Georgia-Pacific is seeking a proactive and experienced Generalist to join our Human Resources team in Brewton, Alabama which is about an hour from Pensacola, Florida. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager this position will be accountable for providing comprehensive Human Resources support at the Brewton Containerboard facility, a unionized environment with approximately 450 employees.
Responsibilities:
oFacilitating principled based decision making and partnering with supervisors around disciplinary actions.
oProviding day-to-day HR support for the facility and helping to implement Market Based Management culture with managers and employees is a critical function.
oProvide day-to-day HR support in functional areas including, but not limited to Selection & Staffing, FMLA, ADA, EEO/AAP, Policy Administration, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and HR Compliance.
oAssisting with compensation and training initiatives
oEffectively interpret and administer local labor agreements
oServe as primary contact for employees, while promoting positive employee relations.
oRespond to questions regarding recruiting and staffing processes, personnel information, and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
oSupport the implementation and administration of HR policies, programs, and systems.
oCoach managers and employees to improve performance.
oActively manage performance issues to resolution.
oActively support change processes that support HR initiatives by coaching to address resistance, motivation, building of morale and improvement of performance.
oInvestigate questions and/or complaints; Resolve employee relations issues.
oSupport talent and succession planning processes and individual development plans.
oCoach, counsel, and implement corrective action to improve job performance and plant results.
Basic Qualifications:
oBachelor's degree or higher.
oAt least 3 years of HR generalist/manager experience.
o Experience in a unionized manufacturing/industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
oBachelor's degree in Human Resources
oPrevious HR experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
oExperience working with SAP, Kronos, and Taleo.
oPHR or SPHR certification

oDemonstrated ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously with a sense of urgency
oAbility to engage people in a positive manner to move initiatives forward
oAbility to work effectively in ambiguous situations, maintain a positive approach and be a strong advocate of company-driven initiatives

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
